2.3 Wilfred Taylor Reserve

An exciting opportunity to deliver regional facilities that encourage community engagement and physical activity, while reinforcing the appeal of Southern Adelaide to prospective residents

Wilfred Taylor Reserve is a much-loved green community space in Morphett Vale. It boasts a huge array of recreation activities and is popular with residents and visitors for its natural beauty and built facilities.

This is a site of strategic importance to the populous and growing residential area at the base of the Onkaparinga Hills. It provides a community hub, a destination for physical activity and respite from the increasingly dense urban area. As the local population grows, the need for upgraded facilities grows accordingly.

The proposal to upgrade Wilfred Taylor Reserve initially comprises master planning and community engagement to inform investment in a regional facility. Depending on the outcomes of that engagement the project could deliver:

  • an upgraded regional playground
  • high amenity recreation facilities
  • upgraded change facilities to encourage greater female participation in local sport
  •  opportunities to incorporate upgrades to the Christie Creek Trail

The site has the potential to evolve into an iconic park that attracts visitors from all across the state.
