The region serviced by Aldinga District Centre is one of the fastest-growing townships in South Australia
The centre’s primary catchment includes the suburbs of Aldinga, Aldinga Beach, Port Willunga and Sellicks Beach. This district is projected to increase in population by 8 274 people by 2036, resulting in a total population of 24 326 people. It services residents, tourists and business on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
There is a need to stimulate employment and commercial activity in the catchment area and to provide economic opportunity for current and future generations. Significant potential exists within the Centre to expand its employment focus through additional retail and commercial and residential development within the undeveloped components, and the expansion of the existing shopping centre.
A development concept and 20 year Strategic Management Plan to guide development across the centre was prepared with the Aldinga community and endorsed by Council.
Immediate development within the centre is needed to increase activity, fill vacancies and maximise the investment of the new Town Square, Library and main street.
